Mental Health Awareness Week

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week, and this year the theme is Community.

The Mental Health Foundation says, “We thrive when we have strong connections with other people and supportive communities that remind us, we are not alone.” We believe in this wholeheartedly at LNT, and it shines through everything we do, whether it’s a Wellbeing Walk, our weekly Hubbub Cafe or our long-running Art for Wellbeing classes. Even our book-swap is leading to conversations that brighten our day and lead to new connections.

How can you get involved with community and support your mental health?

Six women walking and chatting in Stoke Park, with trees and buttercups

Lots of people gather around tables in the Hub with food.

The next Wellbeing Walk is Weds 4 June, 10 - 11:30. “Delightful walk - very informative and fun at an easy pace for my mobility”

The next Community Feast is Friday 16th May, 5 to 7pm. “It’s really nice to have everyone eating together, it feels like a family gathering”

A family with a young boy sit on one table and three older women sit on another table, chatting with cups of tea.

Nine people, adults and childen in colourful coats, plant bulbs on a housing green.

With Really Wild Lockleaze you can join a community to work on your local green. Contact us to find out more.

“Great opportunity to meet people of all ages as well, and learn from them. Great for my mental health.”

Hubbub Cafe is every Wednesday at the Hub, 10:30 to 13:30.

“We come here because of the community feeling-everyone is so welcoming”. Bob says “The Hubbub has been a lifesaver for me- I come every week.”

Check out the weekly groups timetable to find a class that suits you. Rest Refuge Yoga is new on Wednesday at St James and Art for Wellbeing is Thursday 10:30 to 12:30- first session is free.

Plus check out our rota for advice drop-ins at the Hubbub. We know that getting the right support is essential for mental health. It includes advice from Work Well West who offer support with getting/staying in work if you have health difficulties, including mental health.
