Turner Gardens Residents Workshop #4

Where was it? Turner Gardens Green.

What was discussed? Following Bristol City Council's response to our pre-planning application report, it was really important to discuss with residents immediately adjacent to the site at Turner Gardens and Constable Road, the latest proposals around parking and landscaping supported by the Council.

Also recognising the improvements to open space within the new development, we wanted to hear from existing communities living in the streets on how they could re-imagine their own green. Click here to see the boards presented on the day.

How did it go? This was the first engagement event for the project following the Lockdown. It was fantastic to meet and speak with people again (from a 2 metre distance) and hear about the different experiences during these difficult times. It was clear from the conversations we had, how our local green spaces are really valuable and are becoming increasingly important. We also listened to suggestions about how the Green could support local residents by introducing informal or 'natural' play opportunities and that parking provision is an ongoing challenge for many of the surrounding households. Important queries around the ongoing maintenance of any landscaping works were also raised and will help inform and shape the project's designs as it continues to develop.
