Young People's Inspiring Performance in "Is this Our Future?"

Over 140 of you watched the 3 amazing performances from our Lockleaze Eco Youth Team recently. This is the partnership project between Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust and Unfold Community Arts, supported by Ovo Foundation.

Each performance was outdoors, making the most of our local green spaces- Stoke Park woods, The Old Library garden and the finale at Gainsborough Square as part of the Lockleaze Climate and Nature event.

And the feedback was incredible!

Each of you were affected and moved by the powerful and thought provoking performance.

You learnt a lot, including:

But the young people showed us that there is always hope and what we can do together can make a difference. As an audience member said, “Children are our future so listen to them!”

The performance really did resonate with all of our audience and inspired you to take more action.

The performances were the end of this project but we are delighted to let you know that we will be delivering a second project starting at the end of summer. Watch this space for news about how young people you know can get involved and help make our community better for everyone.

Unfold Community Arts also created this amazing Great Crested Newt, constructed by Abi Spence and painted by young people from all three local primary schools. Over 200 young people entered the competition to be part of making the newt! This is part of a campaign to raise awareness that Great Crested Newts are a vulnerable species, but we have lots in Lockleaze and Stoke Park. Here is the newt leading the parade at the Lockleaze Climate & Nature Festival! Well done to all the young people involved.

Watch out for more Newt News coming soon!
