Co-Design Workshop #2

SECOND Co-Design Workshop! February 2020

A very happy half-term to everybody. We were extremely pleased to run our 2nd co-design workshop across two events.

The first session was held alongside our friends up at the Vench during the lunchtime club, as we spoke to people about latest design proposals. Incorporating comments from the first workshop, we have been exploring how we might integrate design measures that enhance biodiversity in Lockleaze through the creation of a wildlife corridor along Constable Road.  We also had lots of fun making fat balls for birds that children could take home to hang in their gardens. Residents spoke to Barefoot (project architect) about how the layout might function from the perspective of a potential resident which was fantastic. In particular we had in-depth conversations around the strengths and challenges of flats as well as the positives and negatives of private space vs communal open space. Recorded comments can be seen here which will be used to shape the next design iteration.

During the evening session, held on the other side of the neighbourhood, we had an opportunity to work with a small focus group of residents to discuss the different internal layout options for each property type being proposed. It was fantastic to get into the detail of the different house layouts and to discuss the impacts of living at home that design can cause.

We are now really looking forward to the third co-design workshop in March, after which we will be ready to submit our application for pre-planning advice. Making some great progress!
