FANCY DRESS PARADE

We’d love to see as much insect or nature-themed fancy dress as possible! It can be as elaborate or simple as you like, with prizes to be won for the best costumes.

Costume workshop from 10am to 12pm on the festival day (Saturday 21st June) at the Hub.

You could make your costume out of recycled materials, like making antennae out of an old headband, adding spots or stripes to an old t-shirt to be a bee or a ladybird or cutting some wings out of cardboard.

Take part in the giant caterpillar cake!

We’re inviting everyone to bring a cake, and we’ll join them all together to make Lockleaze’s longest every caterpillar cake!

On the day, you can bring your cake to the Hub from 1pm to 2pm, or bring it to the LNT stall by the stage on the Square after 2pm.

Your cake can be home-made, shop bought, and decorated however you like- have fun! It could be a swiss roll, a line of muffins, or any cake cut into a rectangle. Please bring a list of your ingredients. For guidelines on how to bring cake safely, and a sample recipe, please click here.

is this our future?

Is This Our Future? is an audio performance written by Director Jody Cook and performed by the young people of Lockleaze. With headsets on, they'll transport you to the future, offering insights into the impact of climate change... Is this our future?

Book tickets here for the performances at the festival, Stoke Park or the Old Library.

Please bring a chair or picnic blanket to sit on. This play is about climate change which some may find upsetting. Questions? contact Jody Cook at unfoldcommunityarts@gmail.com .

Environmental Impact

If you can, please bring your own cup to the festival to reduce waste. You can refill water in the Hub.

Why not come on foot, by bike, or by public transport?

Waste will be sorted and recycled or composted if possible.

DJ Chan will be running a solar powered rig.

If you make a parade costume, try to use waste or recycled materials- why not check out the Children’s Scrapstore? Decor and bunting will all be reusable.

Access

The festival takes place between Gainsborough Square and the Hub. They are both wheelchair accessible with flat access throughout. We will provide a viewing area for the stage for wheelchairs or those who need to be seated. The Hub has an accessible toilet and baby-changing facilities. There are places to sit inside and free access to water. Do get in touch or speak to a steward on the day if you need assisstance.

The site is on the 72, 73 and 24 bus routes. It is about 25 minutes walk from both Filton Abbey Wood and Ashley Down Rail Stations. There are cycle racks at the top of the square.
