Study Visit

Bristol-wide Study Visits - Be Inspired! Jan 2020

Our Community Plan, ‘Our Lockleaze’, highlighted that lack of affordable housing was the number one issue for residents in Lockleaze. Since then, we have had many conversations with people through the residents planning group and the Turner Gardens project about housing priorities and the different ways we can address those needs.

To show people what is possible and give some practical inspiration, LNT and Barefoot organised a visit to a number of recent housing projects across Bristol. At each project we discussed what made each scheme unique from the beautifully landscaped self-finish development at Fishponds to the Passivhaus Council homes in Henbury.

It was incredible to see high quality homes built with residents in mind and the potential that is available to the Turner Gardens project. We even had the opportunity to speak with residents about their experiences of living in the homes and discuss any challenges or lessons that had been learnt. This has given us some really helpful considerations between our Community-led Housing ambitions and the practicalities of living in a space.
