Libraries and communities: your ideas on what next?

Libraries and communities: your ideas on what next?

Have you got ideas or suggestions for your library and its building? Can you help make these ideas

happen? We are inviting you to come along to one of our community events running from January, which will bring local people and organisations together to look for opportunities for community-led activities and partnerships to create a library service for the future. This is everyone’s opportunity to work together to pilot new ideas.

The library service is greatly valued but it needs to change to be more relevant to the neighbourhood and local people. We need to work together to create a library service which will serve future generations and be well connected to everything else that’s going on in the local area.

This is your chance to be part of it – just come along with your ideas.

The following events are taking place – the libraries being discussed at each event are detailed in the listing – please book on to the relevant one for the library you are interested in.

8-week Mindfulness Course

8-week Mindfulness Course

I am running an 8-week mindfulness course at the Old Library on Muller Road starting on the 7th of January and finishing on the 25rd of February, consisting of 2-hour sessions every Monday, 7-9pm.

If you are interested in joining or would like to get some further information about the course, feel free to message me on the Mindful-U Facebook page or to visit my website www.mindful-u.co.uk.

I am teaching the well known 8-week MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) course. During this course you will learn step by step different mindfulness practices and how to include these skills in your daily life. Amongst many benefits, this course helps to reduce stress and anxiety, live life more fully in the present, improve the quality of your relationships, develop skills to face challenging times, get a better insight into the unhelpful habits of the mind and overall live a more fullfiling life.

However, these benefits will be proportional to your level of input, and comitment to the course. So if any of the above resonates with you, please get in touch and we can discuss if the course is suitable for you.

Monday Matinee

Join us at The Hub for a relaxing afternoon, film and slice of cake!

£1 entry and 50p refreshments.

This week we will be watching Little Miss Sunshine.

The Hoover family -- a man, his wife, an uncle, a brother and a grandfather -- puts the fun back in dysfunctional by piling into a VW bus and heading to California to support a daughter in her bid to win the Little Miss Sunshine Contest. The sanity of everyone involved is stretched to the limit as the group's quirks cause epic problems as they travel along their interstate route.
